THE DODDS CUP – Men’s Competition
On Wednesday evening 31 July our men played the Dodds Cup which is a Home and Away competition played simultaneously. The two matches had an almost mirrored pattern about them. At home we got off to an indifferent start, losing 13-4 after 9 ends whereas in Gravesend despite losing the first 2 ends (5-0 down) our men were winning 7-6 after 9 ends. Then it all changed, at home our men slowly and surley took control – 15-8 down at 12 ends then 17 -13 down at 15 ends equal at 19-19 at 20 ends before just squeezing in to win 20-19!
In the meantime at Gravesend our hosts (OGF) were taking full control from the 13th end onwards. We lost 22-10 despite some fine bowling, a disappointing outcome to a good game of bowls.
