MOLLIE CLEGGETT – Ladies Competition.
On Tuesday 30 July our Ladies played against Northfleet BC in the 2nd round of the Mollie Cleggett competition which is a home and away match played simultaneously. Our Ladies, playing away at Northfleet tfaced a very determined four ladies who got off to a really good start, beating our four ladies 10-0 by the end of 5 ends. There was fine bowling from both teams with, as happens in bowls, that element of luck which sometimes goes in your favour sometimes doesn’t; certainly not in our favour tonight.
Our Ladies took control at the 14th end and with determination began to catch up. Sadly it was too late. However our Four Ladies playing at home did somewhat better, losing 8-5 after 9 ends they started to slowly take control by the end of the 12 end they were winning 11-10, then 18-12 up at 16 ends. Our Ladies at home won 21-12, despite the very late push we lost away at northfleet 20-10 so lost overall by just one shot. So close, so very close. Well done ladies for the effort, grit and determination.
