Bexleyheath & Barnehurst Bowls Website News 12 July

A somewhat chillier evening than recently saw the Ladies’ and the Men’s NW Kent Triples teams playing at home on Thursday 11 July.

Both the men’s teams playing against Swanley made a very good start, but were under no illusion that this would be a challenging evening. Towards the end of the evening it looked like both our Ladies’ and our Men’s teams would lose. However, the final two ends of one of the Men’s games  saw the B&B teams secure 6 shots thus winning the match 20-18. Swanley won the other match as they took control after winning several of the ends from roughly mid point. Two points for Bexleyheath and Barnehurst

Our Ladies playing against Eltham Ladies produced an entertaining first 30 minutes or so when one team then the other took the lead; very much a cat and mouse match. At the beginning of the final end one of our teams were even at 14-14, the other was just in front with a score of 14-12. This was very much a nail biting finish. The 18th end was exciting to watch resulting in one of our teams losing 14-15, whilst the other with a determined edge held in there search for that accuracy, holding their nerve. The final result was that B&B won 15-12 thus gaining four points on the evening.

A very good evening of bowling where all 24 players contributed to some good quality bowling.
