Our Annual Day at Lenham on the 15 June.
On the drive down to the beautiful village of Lenham the rained turned from a fine drizzle to a deluge the closer our players got to Lenham. Arriving in Lenham the rain stopped.
Members of Lenham Bowls Club made us feel very welcome. It later transpired that some of our ladies however made an unexpected detour via Ashford! The weather soon turned to be very blustery and distinctly chilly. As the first ends started, it became increasingly overcast and, by the 10th end, the downpour started. Luckily it was the tea break, with the scores fairly even.
After a warming and very welcome cup of tea and cake/biscuits the game resumed. Two of our teams powered ahead while the other two struggled to contend with some great bowling from the Lenham players. The final scores showed 2 wins and 2 losses, with Bexleyheath & Barnehurst winning by a narrow margin of 6 points overall against very good opponents.
The green looked great and bowled very well, the company was excellent and, as usual at Lenham, our members had a fantastic afternoon; only to be spoilt by more torrential rain on the journey home. Definitely not flaming June and in spite of the weather a very good afternoon was had by all.
