Internal and External Competitions
In addition to playing matches against other clubs as previously arranged and clearly shown in our fixtures booklet, our club runs its own internal competitions. These games are very popular with members. There is a wide range of competitions which usually start in May with the popular Aussie Pairs and then run through the summer months. Our finals day is scheduled for mid-September when those members not actually playing in the finals come along to watch fellow members playing and supporting the club.
As well as the Aussie Pairs other competitions include, Mixed Triples and Cyril Roe Trophy played in May. Other internal competitions include 91 Up, Two Wood Pairs, Mixed Pairs, Men’s Handicap and ladies and men’s Championship. We also hold on most Monday afternoons an internal triples league, which leads to a finals match against our sister club.
Both our Ladies and Men’s members enter into teams to play in External Competitions. Such competitions can be individual, pairs or triples. The club submits names to the organisers prior to the coming season.
Some weeks after our Finals Day our club holds a Presentation Night when those winners and runners up of all the various competitions receive a trophy in recognition of their individual achievements. All members are encouraged to enter as many competitions they wish, the first round of all internal competitions is drawn randomly and then progress on a pre-determined programme.
