Internal and External Competitions
In addition to matches against other clubs as detailed in our fixtures booklet, club members have the opportunity to enter external competitions, such as ones organised by Dartford & District, Bexley Boroughs, and the North Kent Bowling Association.
Our club also runs a variety of internal competitions that are very popular with members. These typically begin in May with the well-liked Roy Baker Trophy and continue throughout the summer months. Our finals day takes place in mid-September, when members not competing come together to watch and support their fellow players.
In addition to the Roy Baker Trophy, our internal competitions include the Aussie Pairs, Mixed Triples, and the ladies-only Eileen Moss Day. Other events feature Mixed Pairs, as well as the Ladies’ and Men’s 91 Up, Two Wood Pairs, Handicap, and the respective Championships. Most Monday afternoons, we also run an internal triples league, culminating in a final match against our sister club.
Both our Ladies’ and Men’s members regularly enter teams in external competitions, which may be individual, pairs, or triples events. The club submits player names to the organisers ahead of each season.
A few weeks after our Finals Day, the club holds a Presentation Night to celebrate the winners and runners-up of the various competitions, presenting trophies in recognition of their achievements. All members are encouraged to enter as many competitions as they wish. The first round of each internal competition is drawn at random, with subsequent rounds following a set schedule.
