Bowls Coaching

We have two well qualified coaches at our bowls club: Joan Ward our Ladies Captain and Roy Loft. Appropriate Bowls Coaching will help everybody improve their bowling skills.

They help new members, especially those who have no or little bowls experience, to quickly gain some appreciation of the basic rules and etiquette, as each new member starts to learn how to bowl.  Additionally, the coach will help to build the confidence of the new member as their bowls skills become increasingly evident.

During the first few weeks, the coach will on an agreed basis spend time helping the new recruit prior to them deciding to become a member.  After a few more weeks the new member will gradually and without any pressure be invited to play or enjoy a ‘roll up’ with other members and perhaps play in a team against another club in a friendly game.

Developing Experienced Bowlers

Our coaches also help more experienced bowlers to improve their technique as they improve their skill and begin to gain a better understanding of tactics in helping to improve their game. Our coaches are there to help not criticise.

Along with our qualified coaches, our team captains select people to play in different positions to help develop the individual

We respect one another mindful of the mix of genders, age bands, experience and bowling skills. We truly believe that everyone can improve their bowling skills with the right bowls coaching and as a team, we can all become more skilful.

The clubs qualified coaches provide training in basic bowling skills to new members and further support all club members through individual or group skills development sessions
